This is Evelyn Drake. She was introduced to Jane but it was a cold introduction. Evelyn didn’t even seem excited to meet Jane. Evelyn had that same boring look like Drake…er…wait, he wanted her to call him Henry. It was a snobbish look, as if nothing in the world was good enough to entertain her. Later that evening Jane overheard Evelyn talking, “I don’t understand why my brother is marrying her? Her family has no big fortune. She’s not that beautiful. I don’t understand his attraction to her. He has much better prospects elsewhere. But then again I don’t understand Henry’s interest in becoming a doctor.” The words stabbed Jane like a knife. 🔪 what a cold woman and she would have to become Jane’s sister. We would have to share holidays together and parties. This was awful. Jane darted outside.
