So as I was saying kfcs famous slogan “finger licking good” was mistranslated when the chain first entered china in the late 1980s becoming the chilling phrase “ eat your fingers off” .the error stemmed from a literal translation that failed to capture the intended meaning of enjoying the food resulting in a cultural jarring message.
