Chapter 1, Paragraph 3 Aura was an orphan. Her master and mistress got her from “Miss Hattie’s Academy of Young, Oprhaned, Errand Girls”, when she was 8 years old. Her owners were Mistress and Master Stevenson, who were cruel.
